USAFP Mailing List Directions Last Updated: 10/25/2008

These are the directions for subscribing, unsubscribing and working in the USAFP E-Mail Mailing Lists (Majordomo)

Mailing Lists
There are currently seven (7) mailing lists for use by members of the USAFP. If you have an idea or request for a new mailing list (example, for a committee), please email me at fpnet@msn.com:

  • List #1 is the Medical Informatics ListServe for online discussions of issues relevant to Medical Informatics (medical-informatics).
  • List #2 is the Sports Medicine ListServe for online discussions of issues relevant to Sports Medicine (sports-medicine).
  • List #3 is for the USAFP Officers and Board of Directors for news from USAFP Headquarters and for online discussions.
  • List #4 is the Resident_Student ListServe for online discussions of issues relevant to Medical Students and Residents
  • List #5 is for Special Constituencies - Minority Members, and is for anyone with an interest in this area (usafp-spec-con-minorities)
  • List #6 is for Special Constituencies - Women Members, and is for anyone with an interest in this area (usafp-spec-con-women).
  • List #7 is for Special Constituencies - New Physicians & Mentors, and is for anyone with an interest in this area (usafp-new-physicians).

Posting messages to a list:
1. You must subscribe to a list before you can send a message to that list. These are subscriber only lists. That protects against spam.
2. To send a message to the "General" list on usafp.org, the user would enter:

To: medical-informatics@usafp.org (or sports-medicine@usafp.org - to send to the sports medicine list; usafp-spec-con-minorities@usafp.org; resident-student@usafp.org; usafp-spec-con-women@usafp.org; usafp-new-physicians@usafp.org)
Subject: Whatever you desire

... body of message ...

Unsubscribing from a list:
Send a message to majordomo@usafp.org with the following in either the body of the message or on the Subject line:  unsubscribe listname

Getting help:
1. General help: majordomo@usafp.org - no subject - help (in the body)
2. Help for a specific list: not available for Majordomo mailing lists

Obtaining a list of subscribers:
1. To: majordomo@usafp.org
    Subject:

   who sports-medicine (in the Body of the message)

Obtaining a list of which lists to which you are subscribed:
1. To: majordomo@usafp.org
    Subject:

   which (in the Body of the message)

Obtaining a list of which lists are available on the server:

   lists (in the Body of the message)

Discussion Forums
There are five (5) discussion forums available for USAFP members to discuss and share ideas. These discussion forums are:
1. Medical Informatics
2. AHLTA Clinical Champions (open only to AHLTA Regional and Command Clinical Champions)
3. AHLTA Discussion Forum...open to anyone
4. IT Committee
5. Residents and Students

Please go here to register for the discussion forums, view posts or post yourself. registration is not required for the open forums, but it is encouraged. The discussion forums are moderated and spamming or flaming is not allowed.
